The Mexican government officially updated the General Health Law, specifically Article 376. These changes are designed to modernize the industry and provide long-term stability for healthcare products entering the Mexican market.
Here is what you need to know about these positive shifts and how they benefit your business.
1. Longer registration validity: Stability for your Business
The most significant change concerns the lifespan of your sanitary registrations. This update reduces administrative hurdles and allows for much better long-term planning.
- Initial Registration: Remains valid for 5 years.
- Renewals: Starting with your second renewal, the validity jumps to 10 years.
You can now enjoy double the peace of mind between renewals, significantly lowering your long-term administrative costs and ensuring your products stay on the market longer with less paperwork.
2. Elevated standards in technovigilance (TV) & pharmacovigilance (FV)
While Mandala has always prioritized safety, the Ministry of Health has now integrated Technovigilance and Pharmacovigilance directly into the General Health Law (the highest legal level below the Constitution).
To ensure full compliance, we are enhancing our controls by:
- Stricter Auditing: Increased oversight of warehouses, importers, and distributors.
- Annual Verification: Collecting “Letters of Technovigilance” for every product sold in Mexico at the start of each year.
- Batch Traceability: Maintaining a rigorous history of every batch entering the country, backed by its specific Certificate of Analysis (CoA).
While this means being more exacting with documentation, it provides a massive quality guarantee to the end-user.
Moving forward with Mandala International
These updates aren’t just about rules, they are about building a more robust, reliable, and efficient healthcare market in Mexico.
